Those who have moderate to severe sun damage, acne scars or wrinkles can benefit from resurfacing. Skin resurfacing treatments are designed to peel away the topmost layer of damaged skin to reveal the more youthful, healthy skin beneath. Whether the resurfacing is accomplished with a chemical peel, microdermabrasion or a laser, this underlying skin is tighter and more radiant.

Dr. Michaels uses topical anesthetic cream for comfort to minimize the pinprick feeling of the laser. During the treatment, there is little discomfort, but afterward there will be some pain and soreness. A prescription will be prescribed to assist you through the first days of treatment.

Downtime ranges from five days to two weeks depending on the extent of the procedure. It is best for patients to stay at home during the recovery period and those with children will need help with the family for the first three days.

Only one treatment is needed to see results.
